Folks, I have to apologize for this week's article being a few hours late. You see, Mother Nature decided to play one of her pranks on us yesterday afternoon and it kept me off my 'puter, as well as causing other problems here at the 'ole homestead. Yesterday, we has a massive, and I do mean MASSIVE, thunderstorm rumble across our little valley and did some pretty drastic damage hereabouts. We had winds in excess of 70 miles per hour and torrential rains--and of course our power went out. Therefore, I couldn't use this 'ole machine to post my article. In addition, a local Sears store had the roof cave in because of water accumulation and an entire shopping center was evacuated because of the danger of more roof problems. Here at home, in addition to the power being out, for what seemed like forever, our roof decided to start leaking in about a half dozen places so you can guess where I'll be spending most of my day today. Yep, on the roof trying to do some repairs. At least the darn thing didn't cave in on us. A few weeks ago I gave you some timesaving tips to help you save time in the kitchen and make things easier for you. Well, this week, I thought I'd share some more tips with you. Here we go! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< While cooking a bunch of meals at a time use your dishwasher as a drain rack. I keep a sink full of hot soapy water and do the dishes as I go and using it as a drain rack frees up a lot of counter space. But if you have bunches of dishes and don't need to use the same ones over and over then by all means use the dishwasher to wash your dishes. I use it when all cooking is done and wash the last load in it. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Frozen marshmallows when thawed are just like having a new fresh bag of marshmallows. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< If you put your raisins in a freezer zip top bag, and get out as much air as you can, they should stay fresh a long time. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< When filling freezer bags put the bag in a measuring cup or the like and fold the top of the bag over the cup. This makes it lots easier to fill. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< One stick of butter is 1/4 pound or about 110 grams. Butter in the US is sold in one pound boxes, each box containing 4 sticks.
