IT'S DAD'S DAY!© Vaudie E. Harrison
What to do? What to do?
Well, this weekend it's Dad's turn and I'm sure looking forward to a great day with the family. Now comes the problem--what to do on this coming Holiday that will make it a special day for that Guy in your life. Oh sure, you could take Dad fishing, or to a ball game, or a movie or even out to dinner and I'm sure that many of you will be doing one or more of those things and there's not a thing wrong with any of them. However, I always think that something more personal is a better choice--like his favorite meal! You might fix him a Lobster dinner, with a Steak to go along with it. You might take him to a local park for a cookout and a picnic. You might even go all out and surprise him with Breakfast in Bed. Or he might just prefer to sorta kick back and enjoy a quiet day with His family. I know that's my personal preference. But what ever you do, let His likes and dislikes dictate what you prepare. After all, remember that it's His day, and his preferences should be your guide. At any rate, you should do something to let Him know how special he is in your life. To give you an example, here's what we're doing here at the 'ole homestead for Father's Day. Breakfast will be sorta "catch as catch can" with everybody fending for themselves and we plan to spend the day just enjoying some time together. Sure, we'll probably watch some TV thru our "itty bitty" dish that sits on top of the house--maybe even rent a "Pay-Per-View" movie or two. That way, we don't have to worry about having them back on time--or remembering to rewind the tape. But one of the best times of the day will be the meal that Grandmaw has promised me. You see, I'm one of those "meat and potatoes" kind of guys and one of my favorites is Bar-B-Q Ribs, so that's what will be on our table this Sunday. For dessert, we'll have my all time favorite--Homemade Chocolate Pie! What a meal! I've written about our Rib recipe before on these pages. In fact I posted the recipe about a year and one-half ago. But just in case you missed it and want to share our choice of meals, here it is again! Go To Page: 1 2
