TREATS FOR A "SPOOKY" GOOD TIME

© Vaudie E. Harrison

Many years ago, when I was just a boy, Halloween night was much different from today's celebration. In those days, we happily went from house to house, ringing doorbells, yelling "Trick or Treat" and having a grand 'ole time. No one, least of all our parents, expected to see us come home until at least 10:00 P.M.--and more important, no one worried that harm would come to us on our rounds.

Many times, either before or after our "Trick or Treating" time, there would be a party at someone's home. We all would enjoy spooky treats, "Bobbing for Apples," Tag, Hide and Seek and other games.

All in all, it was great fun and a wonderful time was had by all concerned.

Today, however, times have changed. Because of a number of unfortunate incidents, over the years, most of today's Halloween Celebrations are much more controlled--either community parties or organized "Trick or Treat" times at the local shopping mall or other such place.

For example, this year my Wife and I, along with our Son, will be helping operate a Halloween Carnival at our local school. This will give many kids a place to have a lot of fun in a safe and sane way. Otherwise, many of them would have no place to go and enjoy themselves.

There are, however, many people who like to have a Halloween party for their own children and some of their friends.

If you fit into this last category, this week I'll point you to some places on the Internet where you'll find many, many ideas for decorations and games. Not only that, along the way you'll find some great treats to serve all of those ghosts and goblins.

So browse through all of these sites, and plan a Halloween experience that your little ones will remember for a long, long time.

Remember, you only have a little more than a week to put it all together. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
