Dig Out That Freezer!

This time of year, there are many treats from which to choose. You will find an assortment of fresh fruits such as peaches, plums, nectarines and many others that are in season during the summer. There are also different berries to enjoy--strawberries, blackberries, boysenberries, blueberries and many others.

Of course, we can't forget the melons such as watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melons, along with crenshaws.

Any of the above will make great summertime eating, but there is something else even better. What makes it better is that it gives you the best of more than one world. This treat uses the fruits named above and adds the fantastic quality of Homemade Ice Cream.

So, root through the garage and dig out that Ice Cream Freezer. It doesn't matter if it's the old-fashioned hand cranked style or the more modern electric freezer. The only real difference is the amount of effort involved in creating these great treats.

Be sure to follow the instruction that came with the freezer since procedures will vary from type to type.

1 Cup of Sugar

1 Pint of Fresh Strawberries (1 box if frozen berries are used) (Sweeten the berries to taste)

Beat the Eggs and Sugar until just mixed. Stir in the Cream. Put in Ice Cream Freezer and turn until the mixture begins to freeze and then put in the Strawberries. Continue to turn the freezer until the Ice Cream is frozen. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

PEACH ICE CREAM

1 Quart of Crushed Peach Pulp

1 1/2 Quarts of Heavy Cream (Whipping Cream)

1 Pint of Light Cream (Half and Half)

1 Pound of Pulverized (Confectioner's) Sugar

Juice of One Lemon

Scald the Heavy Cream. Add the Sugar and allow to cool. Add the Peach Pulp gradually, mixing completely. Then add the Light Cream and Lemon Juice. Put into Ice Cream Freezer and Freeze. This Recipe will work better in a hand-cranked freezer although it is still quite good using an electric freezer. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The recipes above are only a few of the many, many ways to use the summer's bounty of fresh fruits and melons. There's no limitation except your imagination and whatever fruits you have available.
