Death by Chocolate, by Marcel Desaulniers.
It just shouldn't be allowed for there to be so many wonderful recipes all in one book--no one's diet can withstand this assault of chocolate! Every recipe is accompanied by luscious photographs of the desserts, and an amusing anecdote as well. The author is the executive chef and co-owner of the Trellis restaurant in Williamsburg, VA--based on this book, the restaurant must be wonderful. The most tempting offerings: Cocoa-encusted essence of espresso cheescake (I love chocolate almost as much as I do chocolate--the combination is outstanding, particularly here, tempered as it is by the slight sourness hidden in the cheesecake). Mom Bailey's Chocolate Icebox Cake--a simple, homey cake from the author's mother in law. Virginia's Cocoa Pound Cake with Warm Buttered Brandy Berries. You don't have to have the berries, but it does transform the cake into a dazzingly elegant dessert. Chocolate Peanut Root Beer Rumble I didn't try this cake, but my, what a name. This would seem to be ideal for those teens with an insatiable sweet tooth. White and Dark Chocolate Blackberry Jam Cake Elegant and homey all at the same time. I don't usually enjoy white chocolate, but this cake is an exception. Excesively Expressive Espresso Ecstasy Yes. Midnight Truffle Cake Pefect for a romantc meal at home. Go To Page: 1
