Bob Blumer takes chances with his cuisine, and does so in an endearing way--his hyperkinetic verbal style readily comes through on the page. His offerings are easy to understand, and even come with recommendations for music to cook, eat, and clean by. It's a nice touch, although I rather doubt anyone is going to include a trip to the music store when planning their grocery list. But perhaps.
Unfortunately, none of the meals sound tempting. Salmon prepared in the dishwasher is at once too adventurous for me, and seemingly wasteful of water when much of the country is in a drought. A sandwich made of raisin bread, cheese and slices of pears, served as dessert, isn't likely to impress guests, even if you are able to convince them to eat it.
On the upside, the drink recipes sound attractive for the most part, if one is happy enough to own a very fully stocked bar.
A good book for those that like to play with their food. The rest of us may have to make to with ordering out.
