"From Our Home To Yours" is a great collection of home-style recipes for any level of cook who wants the simplest pleasures in life.

One day, Lisa Lofton Shively, spent hours organizing all of her family's favorite recipes. It was then that she realized she could write her own cookbook. This is her collection, her first compilation.

"From Our Home To Yours" is a collection of family favorites from the author. The recipes utilize ingredients available at any grocery store. This book shows Shively's ingenuity at adapting cake mixes and utilizing packaged products to turn them into delightful meals for all to enjoy. The results of her recipes give the diners the feeling that you have spent hours in the kitchen. This cookbook also contains helpful tips, an herb and spice guide, baking bread and desserts guide, as well as a produce section, tips to folding napkins, an ingredient equivalents guide, a substitution guide, cooking terms, calorie counter, microwave hints and food quantities for larger parties. All of this in one book. How many people have to check several cookbooks to get the same information? But in this gem, Shively compiles all of this information into one book.

If you are looking for Gorgonzola cheese, capers, and glossy photos it's not here. But that is not the style of book the author wanted. The recipes are not complicated enough to require a step-by-step photographic journey from start to finish. Nor do you need to order unusual ingredients from an online store.

Some of the recipes you can find in this book are: Herbed Tortilla Rounds, BLT Bites, Cool Breeze Punch, Simple Gumbo, Emerald Isle Salad, Sweet Potato Casserole, Black Bean Quesadillas, Monkey Bread, Lazy Fruit Pie, and many, many more. All of her recipes are easy-to-read and to prepare. I found them to be great in cutting back on time in the kitchen with my two small children running around! And to add to this, there are a couple of fun recipes for the children - play dough and art dough!

When reading this book I think of simpler times when there were no cell phones and running around. I think of the country, tire swings, lemonade and Mom's cooking. This book is a little gem. I encourage all of you to go to Lisa Lofton Shively's website and purchase a copy for yourself and one of your friends. You will not be disappointed.
