One year has passed since I joined Suite101 as a Contributing Editor. Every week I've tried to deal with clutter and to look beyond it at the real problem, whether it's the fear of letting go, or a fear of doing too much, or trying to own too much. Now its time to switch gears and do some things differently. Starting in October articles will be published biweekly on the first and third Saturday of each month. I will be posting more links and website reviews along with new content on how to the control the clutter so it doesn't control you.
I have so much to be thankful for. I have readers like yourself who have taken the time to stop by and see what I have to say. Thank you! I'm grateful I have had clutter in my life to protect me when I was unsure and for piling up when I couldn't let go. I'm thankful for the insight I've gained by exposing myself to a world outside of my own four walls. I feel like I've come a long way in one year and I could not have done it without clutter. This week while reviewing my email folder of quotes I found this: "Defeat may test you; it need not stop you. If at first you don't succeed, try another way. For every obstacle there is a solution. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. The greatest mistake is giving up." The author is unknown on this quotation. I'm not even sure where I found it to send myself a copy. Perhaps it is because the quote found me. I think it is very true that there is always another way, always another solution. Try looking at the quote in this way: "Clutter may test you; it need not stop you. If at first you don't succeed, try another way. For every pile of papers or stack of boxes or form in which your clutter takes there is a solution. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. The greatest mistake is giving up." If you are struggling today with clutter there is no need to admit failure. By admitting that your clutter is an obstacle you are already moving towards a solution. If you haven't found one that works for you yet, be patient because it is out there. And who knows, you may not find it yourself, it may find you.
