A Kiss for the New YearThis year brought many changes into my life. Actually, they weren't changes. They were challenges. For that reason, I will be glad to see in a new year, with the hope that in the future, I can K.I.S.S. In case you haven't heard that expression before, K.I.S.S. stands for "Keep It Simple Sweetheart." My one and only resolution for the New Year is to wave goodbye to unrealistic tendencies and to open my arms to simplicity. How can that be done? When I welcome in January 1st, 2001, I won't be doing anything differently. I will still be a woman, a wife, a mother. I will still be working from my lovely little office at home. I will still be dealing with clutter. What I won't be doing is thinking that I have no choice but to live within the defines of these labels in my life. If I am challenged with a situation, I will not just see the problem, I will see a solution. Hopefully I'll see more than one. Sometimes you can't change what happens in your life, all you can change is the way you deal with it. If you want to join me and start off your year the same way, by simplifying your views and your attitudes, start thinking now how you can achieve that. It's not too late, and what better time than at the start of a new year. You don't need a long list of rules or guidelines, so put that pen and paper away. What is most important to you? What do you want to change? What do you want to keep? I have decided that I will only keep items that bring me joy in my home. That jar of pine cones may not interest you, but to me, I reconnect with nature every time I see it. I have also decided to narrow down my interests and hobbies. I will have more quality time in the new year to focus on those activities that are the most important to me. I'm going to spend less time worrying about the things I can't change and more time enjoying my life. The way I see it, I will be clearing away the clutter from my home, my mind and my spirit. The K.I.S.S. rule is going to help me control all the clutter I've dealt with in the past year. I hope it can help you too.
