Flash-Enabled Pitfalls

Some argue that e-commerce is in its infancy, so it's not like boo.com could have drawn on previous experience to get around its technology issues.

I say, put down the hooka pipe, guys.

E-commerce websites and Flash-enabled websites are still websites. They have their own issues, certainly — but the basic rules of the Web still apply.

  • It must be fast to download and use.
  • It must be immediately clear what to do and how to do it.
  • It must deliver real value.
Can Flash help websites achieve these goals? I'd like to think so. But I'd like you to tell me. I'll print your answers in a future column. See you next time.
