Beware ... “The WereBurger!”

© Christopher Cummings

Straight from the Heart of Madness comes — The Wereburger, the first two minute film ever produced by Christopher M. Cummings.

For a first effort, I can honestly say that my film is under 2.5MB. Friends say it's "kinda funny." They forget, it's also free.

Download it now!

Regardless of how good The Wereburger actually is, this Quicktime movie combines words, sound, pictures and (limited) animation — and all of it's content.

Because online content can be any number of things including:

  • music
  • video
  • illustration
  • message board postings
I made my movie with an iMac using Photoshop, MovieWorks and Quicktime Pro. Take advantage of the lazy days of summer — make your own mini movie. If nothing else, studying film creation will probably give you insight into the "word work" you're doing online. (More on that at a later date.)

For information on making your movie check out these sites and products:

    Software

  • Quicktime Pro
QuickTime Pro provides the core capabilities you need to create professional-quality digital video. (And if I can do it, anyone can. Really.) Windows & Mac.
  • Photoshop
One of the best image manipulation programs available. Perfect for creating images for print, video and the Web. Windows & Mac.
  • MovieWorks
Suite of applications that work together to create movies, slide shows and interactive CD-ROM titles. Kind of quirky, but recommended. Mac only.

    Books

  • The Filmmaker's Handbook
Great guide for beginner filmmakers (or anyone who wants a better understanding of the language of film).

  • Digital Video For Dummies
Covers capturing video to PC format, adding effects with Adobe Photoshop and more.

  • What They Don't Teach You at Film School
Two filmmakers who beat the system explain what it takes to get your movie made. (Entertaining, but may not apply if you're like me, producing a 2 minute movie to be shown on the Web.)

    Sites

  • Drew's Script-o-Rama
Don't know what a movie script looks like? Download tons of them here, for free. Kind of like Napster, except for movie scripts.

  • Entertaindom.com
Interactive animated films. Downfall — you need plugins to view these things.

  • Filmmaker Exam
Answering yes to any one of these questions is a good indication about the type of project you're working on ... and what it's final fate should be. (Funny.)

Your video is great! I'd never in my wildest dreams think anyone could make movies. But it's happening, isn't it?

As a matter of fact, small video companies are making their way into Seattle and ...
