The Three Most Important Pop Albums of 1999© Jason Ewert
Nov 12, 1999
At this time of year almost all of the important albums have been released. In this feature I cover the top three most important pop albums which were released this year. They may not be the most popular but they were the head turners. #3 - True North (Twila Paris)
Coming back after taking a bit of a sabbatical from recording pop music Twila has once again proved to us that she can take a break and still storm the charts. With two #1 singles from this album already (Run to You & I Choose Grace) I believe that Twila is a contender for Female Vocalist of the Year. #2 - Without Condition (Ginny Owens)
Every year new artists pop up but rarely do I find an artist which I really like. Ginny provides us with a style of music which is becoming more and more popular: piano-based pop music. That along with excellent lyrics makes this album well-worth buying. #1 - Speechless (Steven Curtis Chapman)
With the dramatic 'left' turn of 1996's Signs of Life SCC redefined the phrase 'pop music'. Speechless picks up where his previous album left off - but there are a few changes. Adding a bit of a country twang to his voice and using more programming SCC continues to prove that pop music is a big seller. Look forward to a big night for SCC at the Doves this year.
