Chances are you have heard of deliriou5? They are one of the hottest new groups in Christian music and, after taking a strong hold in England, decided to take their music to the U.S. That was in 1997 and since then three album have been released in the U.S. Those three are Cutting Edge, King of Fools, and Live and in the Can. With these three albums success has come to deliriou5?, but success isn't what they are after. Their mission is to take a stand for Jesus and to change our ungodly culture into a culture which has fallen in love with Jesus.
Their album Cutting Edge, which is made up of four mini albums which they put out in the UK, has changed worship. With a more edgy sound it has been popular with youth. Even some of the songs of King of Fools are used in worship. Their worship songs don't have stale lyrics either. They talk about a thankfulness to God and a longing to fall in love with God. These lyrics along with excellent music, deliriou5? has been changing Christian Music in a good way. The popularity of their song "Deeper" has really helped them to get known in North America. "Deeper", according to The Chart from Christian Music from the Mining Co., was the second top song out of a hundred this year. On a poll also from Christian Music from the Mining Co. King of Fools was the sixth top album this year. Something more to say about that is the fact that King of Fools was a write-in vote as it had not been listed in the nominees. With the Dove Awards just a few months away it will be interesting to see how deliriou5? will do. As the deliriou5? journey carries on they gain new fans. Their playing at Creation '98 and the many other gigs this past year has helped build their popularity. 1999 will be an exciting year for deliriou5? 1999 will be a year of new recognition on the charts and a continuation of that mission which deliriou5? is conducting: to grab culture by the scruff of the neck and say, "We're here to stay!"
