Retailer with a Rap SheetSears can't seem to stay out of trouble. Based on news reports, I've compiled a "rap sheet" showing the company's history of investigations for consumer abuse. Sears usually denies it has done anything wrong, but has repeatedly paid big bucks to settle. In February Sears plead guilty and paid the largest criminal fine in U.S. history ($60 million) as part of a $475 million settlement package, based on charges that it pressed former debtors to pay bills that had been discharged in bankruptcy. Because this Suite101 column does not support tables, visit my other website to view Sears' "rap sheet", where I've awarded Sears the *prestidigitous* Naked Mole-Rats of Marketing Award. (And if you don't know what a naked mole-rat is, go here.)
