George "Dubya" Bush seems to be the latest spammer. Actually, the Bush campaign appears to be trying to get many people to spam friends in order to promote Bush's canidacy. Many of these messages are going to people not eligible to vote in the US.

The FBI's Carnivore mail reading program is being reviewed. The Department of Justice apprently tried to hide the identities of the review team, but, in a move very similar to that which extracted information recently from some declassified CIA files, the information was extracted from censored PDF files. Now that the team is known, there have been concerns raised that the committee has been stacked with those prejudiced in favour of the project.

The music industry asked people to try out its new encryption system. The people complied. Within three weeks, the SDMI (Secure Digital Music Initiative) has been demonstrated to be thoroughly insecure.
