A new MS Word macro virus is doing the rounds, sharing many characteristics of Melissa and ExploreZip. It has been posted on a number of alt.sex.* newsgroups in order to seed it. The name of the attached file is "SUPPL.DOC". Another identifying file, extracted into the Windows directory, is called ANTHRAX.INI.

The UK have yet another round of proposals on the table for dealing with encryption and pornography. The local cypherpunks quickly pointed out that the pending legislation could mean that someone who received encrypted material, even if they did not have the key, could go to prison for not revealing the plaintext which they didn't have and couldn't produce.
