Final Fantasy VII has finally been ported over to the PC
You may remember the E3 gaming convention last summer . . . or you might not. Either way, it was held in the US and showed off many of the bigger games coming out in the following year or so for US gamers. Recently, a similar convention was held in Tokyo, showing off many of the games programmed by Japanese programmers. The largest, and most anticipated, game there may have been Final Fantasy VII. Some of you may be asking, "What's Final Fantasy VII?" Before that's answered, a little history of FF7. Final Fantasy VII was originally made for the Sony PlayStation, and may be the finest game made for the console to this point. Anyway, after some time, it is now being ported over to the PC. With a computer's advantage of graphic accelerators and the like, FF7 will most likely look better for the PC than the PlayStation, which is pretty amazing. It will have smoother and more precise graphics than the PlayStation version and probably run as fast (and maybe faster for those of you with monster machines). The Final Fantasy series is relatively old, dating back to the Nintendo 8-bit console. It is also very popular with a huge fan following, in Japan especially. Even the average housewife there may have knowledge of these games. It's estimated that 90 percent of Japanese PlayStation owners have purchased a copy of FF7. What gives Final Fantasy VII such a huge fan following? It's been around long enough to gain publicity, but mostly the quality of the games published. The Final Fantasy series has one of the strongest story lines for any role playing-game (RPG) ever. Players get a sense of connection to the characters they play throughout the journeys they make. The death of one of these may bring a tear to some peoples' eye. FF7 focuses on four main characters, but there are many more in this vast world to meet. How vast? Final Fantasy VII is supposed to take up over 80 hours of the average gamer's time to complete the game. And the game play is so immersing that all of 80 hours is quality gaming. Only a little while back, PC gamers were at a loss of quality RPG's. This surefire hit will fill that void nicely in many gamers' gaming libraries. And for those of you who've played Final Fantasy VII, PlayStation version, don't worry. The creators have attempted to keep everything the same as they port it from the PlayStation to the PC format. Your favorite characters and endearing story will remain in tact. Go To Page: 1 2
