And the Winner is . . .Anyone and everyone has their idea of the best games of 1997 Now that 1998 is fully upon us and last year is more than a month behind us, individuals, organizations and companies can now officially declare the best games of 1997. Anytime and anywhere one goes on the Internet, someone's trying to pass their judgment on any and all games. This time of year is no different. With 20/20 hindsight and a month's cushion, everyone is awarding games left and right with the "Best of 1997" award in a number of categories. Fortunately, some people are real experts in the gaming field and actually know what they're talking about. Everyone should take these gaming gurus' word to heart . . . or should they? With a little searching, here are some gaming authorities' picks of 1997. I would like to hear from people on what they think of these picks agree or disagree. The winners were decided by votes cast by visitors to GDReview's site. The Reader's Awards concluded before the end of 1997, so many of the last-minute big name games didn't end up on the ballot. By the time you read this, PCGamer will have picked their Gamers' Choice Awards. On Jan. 30, at 5 p.m. PST, the results were revealed. To help them, site visitors were able to pick their favorite games from 1997 in the following categories: Game of the Year, Best Action Game, Best Sports Game, Best Wargame, Best Real-Time Strategy, Best Turn-Based Strategy, Best Role-playing Game, Best Adventure Game, Best Simulation Game, Best Expansion Pack, Best Multi-Player Game and Best Arcade Game. This article went to press before Jan. 30, so results weren't available at the time.
