E3 - the games

Strategy
Two games take top honors in this category - "Republic: The Revolution" from Elixir Studios, and "Black and White" from Lion Head Studios. "Republic" may be one of the most ambitious games ever conceived. You take on the role of a small faction leader in the broken Soviet Union. Your goal is to become the president of the next Russian republic. The elements that make up game play are indeed rich. Your subjects are a million minds with their own emotions, loyalties and skills. You can control these beings through your influence and enlightenment. Besides the game play, the graphics will be topnotch. Their engine will be able to render an unlimited number of polygons and show the changing world around you.

As ambitious as when it was first thought up, "Black and White" is a lesson in originality. A while in development (it was also featured at last year's E3), the game has really taken shape. You play an all-powerful magician on a small-inhabited island. You have free reign over this island, and what you do will affect the people living there. These villagers also have an impact on you. Your power over the surroundings is based on their loyalty and worship of you. Command through your benevolence or dictatorship. The game also takes on a little "Sims" flavor. On this island is a creature that represents your island's well being. You care for the animal and influence it to do good or bad. The combination of everything will make this one of the most unusual and rewarding games this year.

There's not enough space to cover all the great games featured at this year's E3. For even more information, try the site http://www.e3expo.com
