2,400 games featured at E3
E3 stands for the Electronic Entertainment Expo, held annually sometime in May. This year it was held from May 11-13. The numbers that make up the show are astounding. Up to 62,000 people attended the event, viewing almost 2,500 games supplied by more than 450 vendors. It's gaming heaven. Unfortunately not all games featured will make it out into the wide world. I've heard only 10% will arrive on store shelves; the rest are lost in the massive confusion caused by neglect and plain bad games. Besides games, attendees also got to see the next generation consoles such as Microsoft's X-Box. Although computer oriented, the expo features a wide range of gadgets and doohickeys. The expo provides entertainment, but it gives a wealth of information to those seeking it. The top minds in gaming are there, and those seeking to make their mark can learn a lot. In fact all elements of game production are at E3. If one "networks" they can make connections or even deals. E3 brings everyone involved in electronic entertainment together. Besides meeting the influential people of the industry, one can attend a workshop or conference. This year featured five different tracks - Development: From Garage to Million Dollar Decisions; Wired and Online: All the Time and Everywhere We Go; A Buzz in the Air: The Issues; Consumers: The Masses are Hungry; Business Trends: The Future. Each one features a different aspect of the current electronic gaming industry. E3 is the focal point of this industry. It is where everything is unveiled and leaps in technology and innovativeness are shown. Tomorrow's article will highlight these developments in the most cutting-edge games showcased at the expo.
