Convince LucasArts a sequel is needed

In this day and age, the opportunity to make a sequel to a popular computer game is snatched up almost immediately. It seems like every other game is a sequel (or even further down the line of progression) to an already existing game. They're easier and cheaper to make. The brainstorming process has already been accomplished for the original game. All that really needs to be done is to extend the plot of the first game, tweak the graphics, and boom! You assure yourself of a sure thing.

However, this is not the case with "Outlaws" from LucasArts. The game appeared in marketplaces a few years ago, and there is still no sequel to this game. It garnered awards for best adventure, story, and music from numerous magazines and review sites, yet nothing. The game seems sequel-worthy. Its plot, as describe in LucasArts' Outlaws page is as follows:

"Ex-marshal James Anderson lived a quiet life with his wife and daughter. One black day that life was shattered by a fancy-dressed, greed driven land baron intent on plowing down his farm to make way for the railroad. Now Anderson's driven by revenge, which he'll exact in a spray of gunfire. There's nothing "Ex" about Anderson anymore."

The player is cast into the boots of this ex-marshal during the times of the Wild West. This means extensive gun fighting. LucasArts is able to combine this action with a great adventure game. It featured great sound and music, along with some outstanding artwork. It was a treat on the eyes and ears. Plus it was, and is still popular. At any given time The Zone has more than one hundred people playing the multiplayer version of "Outlaws." But, there is still no sequel.

However, one group of people wants to change this. A site called Paleface.net has taken the challenge to get a sequel made of the game. They've begun a petition to LucasArts to convince them that there is a large enough market to warrant a sequel. At the time of writing this article, there were over 1800 different people who had shown their support.

I haven't seen an undertaking like this over the Internet, ever. It's unique, and reaches a huge number of people that care about the game. It should work. If you support the development of a sequel to "Outlaws" visit the link below and sign the petition. Even if you don't, it is interesting enough to spend a couple of minutes checking it out. Spread the word about this petition.
