New release news

Find out with Gone Gold

During my Internet browsing I came across one of the better sites devoted to computer games, news especially. And with the days for Christmas shopping upon us (and quickly dwindling), this site may be the most important out there. Gone Gold (available at http://www.gonegold.com ), courtesy of Rich LaPorte, is one of the only Internet sites devoted to new releases.

The name "Gone Gold" is taken from the term used by computer game industry to "announce that a title has gone into duplication." Gone Gold is entirely devoted to news of these newly released games, plus new patches and demos. The site has all the categories of a regular computer game site: previews, reviews, and news. But unlike the other sites, you won't be bothered by outdated, irrelevant news. Everything is focused on brand new games.

The site gives gamers "Quick Takes" and "Short Takes". These are just meant to give the reader a quick overview of the game; not full reviews, just some thoughts on the game. There is also a review department headed up by Dave Fisher, and a preview section including some of the more obscure games you may not ever here about. Be sure to check these sections out to learn something new.

The heart of the site, however, is the "Gold Guide". Here they keep track of every aspect of upcoming and newly released games. Find a game's official home page, online previews and reviews, cheats, fans' home pages, and anything else one can think of. But during this Holiday season, the most important section will be the release dates. Track a game's current release date so you won't be surprised when a game isn't in stores when you go shopping. It's always a disappointment to have your heart set on a game, and then learn it won't be in until the beginning of next year. But with Gone Gold that should be a problem of the past. Once again you can find the site at http://www.gonegold.com
