Do you need another free online email address? Would you like to see how you look as a hockey player? If the answer to either question is at least a hesitant "Yes" you'll find what you're looking for in this week's article.
Are you fed up with Microsoft's monopolistic ways, and refuse to use their free web-based email service? Acclaim Online probably has the answer for you. AO is a new division of Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. In cooperation with web-providers Tek 21 and Check, Acclaim will offer free web-based email. The senior manager of Acclaim Online thinks the gimmick is a "...win-win for Acclaim and [their] customers." Users will get the use of the free service, plus product updates, store discounts, and Acclaim related news. Acclaim in turn gets more exposure outside the web. Users can customize their email address to have any of the following domains: AcclaimSports.com, Re-Volt.com, TrickStyle.com, and Turok.com. AO also plans to add additional domain names in the future. Acclaim.Net can be found at http://www.acclaim.net/ Have you ever considered giving professional hockey a chance recently? And if so, are you worried what you'd look like in uniform? Probably not, but EA Sports' recently released "NHL 2000" will give you that option. The game features Face in the Game technology, where by following several simple directions anyone's face can appear in the game as part of any of the 28 pro teams, or any custom teams you design. The game also features multi-player mode via the Internet, and a ten-year career mode. Something to take note of: Chris Pronger, captain of the St. Louis Blues, will support the marketing, sales and advertising portion of the game. He was also consulted on actual game play, so expect some realistic hockey if you get around to playing this game. See you next article when I attempt to talk about gaming piracy.
