This week's article is devoted to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (or E3), that took place recently. The expo showcases what's up next in the electronic entertainment business. Everything from the new console game systems to computer software and hardware is put on display for all the fair goers to see. This is THE show to see if you are interested in what's in the industry's future. This week I'll deal with some of the most anticipated role-playing and strategy games seen at E3 that you may see in the very near future. RPG:
System Shock II - This is the sequel to an unappreciated classic made way back in 1994. The game is a melting pot of genres; it includes action, role-playing, and science fiction elements. The player begins by waking up in the middle of a spaceship with no knowledge of how he/she or their cyborg implants got there. As the game unrolls, the character will develop to the players liking, anywhere from a violent, gun toting maniac, to a science loving pacifist (okay, maybe not that extreme). Strategy:
Homeworld - Another game with the possibility to redefine the strategy genre. This science-fiction real-time strategy game takes place in three dimensions; everything from war to resource production will now be able to be manipulated in more than the standard ways. The story's pretty good, too. Your people have discovered they don't belong on their current planet. Underneath the planet is a spaceship that presumably brought you to this world, and everyone now wants to return to wherever it came from, the Homeworld. Go To Page: 1 2
