The graphics in this game have improved substantially since the last installment, but that should be expected--it's four years later. The models of the cars are very accurate, and the polygon environment has been painted with high-quality textures of grass, rocks, etc. There are still some 2-D bitmapped objects in the game, like trees and fences, but overall, the game is convincingly 3-D. There are several graphics options available, from low-res VGA to SVGA--of course, if you want the latter, you'll need a pretty powerful system--on my Pentium 90, I was getting around 5 frames per second in SVGA mode.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a fast-paced racing game with off-road vehicles, you might like Test Drive 4. But if you're like me, and enjoyed the exploration factor of the previous games and feel like circling the same oval track again and again, you might enjoy another racing game, like Electronic Arts' "Need for Speed".
