Well, since this is my first of (hopefully) many articles here at Suite 101, I guess I'll start out by talking a little about myself and then say what I want to accomplish with this little space of mine.
First off, my name is Dan, and I like playing computer games. I am not ashamed to say that, and you shouldn't be either. We all play games. Admit it--be it Solitaire or Command and Conquer, everyone who has a computer has, at one time or another, played a computer game.
Anyway, I've been playing computer games for most of my life. I started out when I was about 5 or 6 by playing "Space Invaders" on my Dad's lap. I then gradually advanced to the point where I was programming my own games. I've watched the complexity of computer games advance, and I can never get over how fast the computer gaming industry is going--just take a look at where we are now compared with just a few years ago. It's only been ten years since we were playing games where the most complex action required was jiggling the joystick and hitting the fire button as fast as possible. Today, the games have gotten more complicated, and the graphics, sound, and gameplay have advanced by leaps and bounds.
Well, that's it for my first article. I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. And guess what? I'm just getting started! As a contributing editor to Suite 101 I plan to provide you with much more. Reviews of upcoming games, an inside look at the computer gaming industry, and just mindless ravings by some guy who's addicted to computer games are all on the agenda. (Okay, okay--I'll try to cut the mindless ravings down to a minimum).Happy Gaming.
