Stuck on the Monkey Island 3 demo? This article is your answer. But remember! Only look if you are completely absolutely stuck, and can't possibly go any farther.
The demo starts out on LeChuck's pirate ship, with Guybrush being guarded by a small pirate. Talk to him by placing the "X" over him, clicking, and selecting the parrot's mouth ("Talk"). The conversation can go any number of ways, but first off, ask the pirate about his fake beard, then his hook, then his eyepatch. Sure enough, the pirate turns out to be Wally, the cartographer from Monkey Island 2. Turns out he's in "pirate training". Continue the conversation with Wally, telling him that he's a "failure as a pirate". The insecure Wally gets upset, throws down his hook and starts crying. Not much of a pirate. Pick up Wally's hook, then go to the back wall and pick up the ram rod. Do this by clicking on it, and selecting the "hand" icon. Take a little target practice by clicking on the cannon in the center of the room and using the "hand" (Use) icon. The arcade sequence is pretty self explanatory.. Use the mouse to aim the cannon up, down, left and right, and blast away the pirate raiders. When all of them are dead (again) in the water, the sequence ends. Look out the porthole where the cannon is sticking out by clicking on the window. If you want, talk to the skeleton head. Now is where you have to use two items together. Access your inventory and first click the ramrod, then the hook, to form a new item. Use the new "hook on a ramrod" to pick up the sword floating in the water. Have a little fun and use the ramrod to dunk the skeleton's head under the water. Yay. Go back to the first scene by clicking on the porthole, and use the sword to cut the rope tying the cannon down, then give the firing cord on the cannon one last good pull. Volia! You're out of the room and at the end of the demo. Can't wait for more? According to inside sources, "The Curse of Monkey Island" should be available on store shelves by the holiday season.
