Tips, Tricks, and Cheats: Need for Speed 2: Part Two

Master the art of Ramming

  • Ramming is a great thing to learn how to do correctly. It's good for two reasons. First, it can give you a little speed boost, by transferring some of the other car's kinetic energy to you. Second, it slows the other guy down. The trick is to gently tap the front right bumper of the other car's bumper ever so slightly, then turn your wheel to the right. If everything goes as planned, you should see the guy spin out and hopefully crash into the wall. If you're really lucky (and perform the "ram maneuver" in a tight turn or stretch of road, he may take out some of the other cars with him!

Use the other guy when turning
  • If you're approaching a turn, and you see a computer controlled car on the outside (where they like to be), don't let off the accelerator as you would usually do. This is a video game! Turn hard to the direction of the curve, and try to hit the other guy squarely on the side. If everything works out right, you should be able to "bounce" off of him, and pass the other car easily without slowing up.

    Cheats
To give credit where credit is due, I sto...er.."borrowed" these cheats from Aim4game.com, which has an excellent Need For Speed (1 and 2) section.

  • To get the bonus track, simply type the word "hollywood" in at the main menu.
  • Type "pioneer" at the main menu to upgrade all cars to "Pioneer Engines", which accelerate faster and handle better.
  • Type "slip" at the main menu to turn on "Slip and Slide" mode, which lets the cars slip around more.
  • Here are some codes that give you access to some wacky vehicle. (my favorite is the bus):
    • ARMYME -- Mercedes Unimog army truck
