Sorry!Sorry, I now have an apology to make. The promised Ion Storm essay for this week will not materialize until about a month into the new year. Finally, I have managed to contact the Ion Storm press office, and they will (I hope) soon be sending me the official press kit. If you look at the website for most big lawyers, you will see that it is dangerous to write one-sided articles. Despite the fact that I have been e-mailing their press office virtually constantly for about three months without reply, I do not want to do Ion Storm an injustice. Although it seems to me that this story perfectly encapsulates the problems that many newly-formed companies face. Ion Storm are new. They hold a huge launch party, and set up camp in a lavish new set of offices. As I set out last time, they had an all-star crew, and seemingly could not fail. But they rubbed way too many people up the wrong way in the progress. What every young company needs is some good press, they need to be cut a break by the computer press. However, en route Ion Storm pissed everyone off by means of lackadaisical public relations, an overly egotistical view of their own abilities and a really optimistic release schedule that no-one except seemingly the company themselves thought that they could keep. Oops, I've probably just got myself sued.............
