Quick Halloween CenterpieceWith Halloween quickly approaching you may want to put together a centerpiece or decoration to get you into the spirit of this ancient holiday. This is a project that my kids and I have worked on. The entire family enjoyed creating it, as well as showing it off to relatives and friends. The first thing we did was pick out some simple Halloween theme graphics. Some I printed in black and white (so my little girl could color) and others were printed out in color on cardstock. I used 65# white cardstock for most of the decorations. The decorations we used were ghosts, bats, cats and other assorted scary creatures. We embellished them with glitter glue, glow in the dark paint and 3-D Crystal Lacquer(tm). For the main theme we used a large Jack-O-Lantern printed on orange cardstock to save on ink. Accent lines where embossed with black embossing powder . You can also use a graphic of an old house or use a pre-made house or a real pumpkin carved out to resemble a house. We then took a Styrofoam sheet for the base and covered that with brown paper, moss, leaves and crooked branches. To make each of the ghosts and other items stand we took a tooth pick and secured it with tape and stuck it into the Styrofoam base. We then got some "spider-webbing" for the tree branches and stones to make a path. Each day my kids find something new to add to the centerpiece and are very proud of their work. Happy Halloween! Anna
