Mixing Media: Rubber-stamping

Computer crafting allows for a lot of experimentation and imagination. Mixing different paper crafts with computer crafts is another unique way of showing off your projects.

I was in a swap on an email list and the requirements for this swap were to combine rubber-stamping with a computer generated card, bookmark or magnet. This can be accomplished in several ways and the results are stunning. You can print out the background and your verse using your favorite software program or you can print out a graphic and stamp around it.

Making a Mixed Media Card:

1. Choose your theme and layout before you get started.
2. Once you have done that you can search for your background or graphics that you want to print out. Also include your verse or whatever you would like to be printed. Once that is done then you can print out your card.
3. Using rubber-stamps that match your theme you can now stamp your card. For example: You can print out a sunset and lighten the graphic so the stamped image will be visible. Then you can emboss your stamped image using pigment inkpad, embossing pens or a glue pen made for embossing.
4. The key to creating a mixed media card or project is planning a theme and having a layout predetermined. This saves supplies, time and money.

Experimenting with different stamps, graphics, and backgrounds can be exciting as you see more and more possibilities. You may want to add punched out pieces or dried flowers to your card to enhance your card.

I'd like to leave you with three lessons that I have learned in my many years of computer crafting.

1. Always plan. Think about your layout and theme.
2. More isn't always better. Leaving blank space can also draw attention to your card.
3. Save your mistakes, you may be able to use a rubber stamp or punched piece to cover a mistake.

Till next week,

Anna
