Computer Crafting is Expanding

Most of the crafts that we do and the crafts that our grandparents did before us were done by hand. No use of computer and no use of fancy technology. That has been changing at an alarming rate over the last two years. Several crafts are introducing the computer as an additional tool in the creation and final outcome of home made crafts.

Scrapbook-making or Memory Books are no exception. With the introduction of the Internet, more clip art packages and programs this is becoming more and more popular. People that have a hard time with journalizing or writing captions in cute or fancy handwriting now have the option to surf the Internet for fonts that range from elegant to kid prints. There are sites that have great lists of sayings and page toppers that you can refer too. dMarie is one of those sites, as well as many more. Web sites are cropping up all over the net showing layouts for pages to give others ideas and creative sprouts to enhance their own pages.

Rubber-stamping is also taking advantage of this new frontier. Fonts and clip-art can be cut out or directly printed on the card or project then can be finished up with a rubber stamp and other embellishments. There are also many sites where people show off their wonderful work for others to get inspiration and learn new techniques.

Cross Stitchers and Plastic Canvas creators aren't to be left out either. There are several programs available on the Internet that can generate patterns from clip art or a scanned in image. Also with the vast array of fonts available they can be incorporated to make a very personal gift.

Computer crafters are making their own Wedding Invitations and party favors as well. Surfing the Internet provides one with a lot of ideas that would once cost a lot of time and money.

Churches are making newsletters from software made for Computer crafting, utilizing exciting clip-art and getting ideas from other sites to incorporate more information and creative information to be included.

To conclude, I would like to go over the many e-mail lists and message boards that are available to those who would like to expand their knowledge and possibly make new friends.

Till next week...

Anna
