Gamer's Move Over: Computer Crafting is Here to Stay!Computer Crafting has been around for a long time, but its popularity is now just coming out. I remember a couple of years ago I was going to make my family computer generated cards. Well I got out the 20 pound printing paper, revved up the ole printer and started designing my cards. Printed them out and folded them up. This was done with a 24-pin dot printer and an old computer. I was so proud of myself. The cards looked printed from the computer. You could count the dots and I could never get all the folds just right. I did a bit of trimming and hand signed my cards...off they went. My first babies out into the real world. Computer crafting has come a long way since then. Now I have a complete selection of cardstock, heavy-duty paper that you don't fold, but once, down the center. Loads of embellishments, such as glitter, glitter spray, 3-D Crystal Lacquerâ„¢ and a whole host of other must haves. A computer crafter begins to see creative abilities in old pizza boxes, rumpled tissue paper, candy wrappers and just about any thing else one would call garbage. Now my family asks my permission before throwing anything away because they know I will be digging through the trash looking for that perfect something to add to my cards, book marks or whatever project I am working on. Flat surfaces are never clutter free or decorated with cutesy plants or knick-knacks, no way! They hold crafting supplies, they are work areas and no flat surface is safe in a crafters home, not even the oven or the microwave. Storage space is limited so every little nook and cranny must be utilized to its fullest extent. Don't forget to hide the checkbook, credit cards and all spare cash either. There are so many "must haves" to add to the arsenal of computer crafting. Rubber-stamps, more hard drive, space, more memory, more upgrades to all the great programs that we already have. It becomes more of an obsession as time moves on, your creativity blossoms and you see potential uses for the littlest thing. Wire whisks, wooden spoons, glass jars all have uses for the computer crafter. In future articles I want to address different programs their uses, and how they can fit into the creating of projects. Each program has its good point that another program can't do, so many programs may be used to complete one project. I also want to address different embellishments and how they can be used it creative ways to show off your project and how choosing different embellishments can add uniqueness to your card or project. There are so many things that can be done with computer crafting, that by combining many existing mediums together you can create a one-of-a-kind creation to be proud of.
