Introduction to Graphic Software Part 1 of 28. Is this a hobby or do you want to achieve professional results? Once you have decided what direction you want to go in it is time to see what software is available. Also, keep in mind that certain programs require minimum computer requirements in order to run. Adobe Photo Shop requires more resources to run than Jasc Paint Shop Pro. Before purchasing software go to the manufactures web site and see if they have fully functional trial software you can download. Try programs out before you make your purchase, as a rule software cannot be returned. My personal recommendation Paint Shop Pro by Jasc. Jasc has a fully functional 30-day trial version of Paint Shop Pro. Version 8 resembles Adobe Photo Shop and the learning curve is a bit more difficult than previous versions, however it is not as steep as Adobe Photo Shop, nor does it have the high price tag. Adobe Photo Shop has its place in the graphic software artist's tool box as well. Look for part 2, Resolution and Common File Extensions. Anna Morvee
