Holiday Gift Ideas for Bird Lovers

4. Gift certificates. Do you have a bird lover on your list who would love some new bird accessories, but you're not sure exactly what they want? Give them a gift certificate to their favorite pet store! And, unless you know for a fact that Aunt Janie would love a canary, or that Uncle Pete has his heart set on a particular conure, never give a live bird (or an animal of any sort), as a gift. A gift certificate allows the recipient to pick their own brand new companion bird, and frees you from the risk of choosing the wrong bunch of feathers.

5. Figurines, sculptures, and art work. What bird lover doesn't have at least one piece of bird art and would love to add to their collection? Fun things to give are bird statues, paintings, calendars, even Christmas tree ornaments that are shaped like birds.

6. Coffee mugs. I love my avian-inspired coffee mug collection! These items can be found in souvenir shops, department stores, and in catalogs. What's more fun than sipping your morning cup of joe from a mug adorned with a lovely scarlet macaw?

7. Greeting cards and stationery. Beautiful cards and stationery can be found in many gift shops or can be ordered from catalogs. Ask at your local stationery store if you can't find what you want. Chances are they will be able to help you get your hands on the perfect paper item.

8. Mouse pads and desk accessories. A mouse pad featuring a companion bird would delight any bird lover! Ready-made accessories make fun gifts, or you can have something special made up at an office supply shop. Ask what is available in the way of printable items.

9. Stuffed animals. I have a cute collection of stuffed parrots. One of them even repeats what you say! These creations make whimsical, fun gifts that are sure to bring smiles to everyone who sees them.

10. Key chains. One of my favorite key chains was a beautiful pewter African grey parrot. Stained glass-looking parrot key chains are wonderful, too -- I should know, I've had two of them! Look in pet stores for these specialty items. Many types of birds are available.

And last but definitely not least, don't forget to buy gifties for those feathered folks on your list! Some fun bird presents are crunchy dog biscuits, stainless steel mirrors, swings, bird-safe chewable
