My birds are a special part of my life and they enrich every day for me. In return, they depend on me not only to provide them with food and shelter but also to make their lives interesting, safe and fun. I have made some promises to my birds, promises that I intend to keep. Maybe some of these promises will be meaningful to you and your companion birds. 1. Every time I look into the bright, trusting eyes of my parrots, I am reminded that I am responsible for their happiness. I promise to do everything in my power to make their lives joyful and rich. 2. Every time I prepare a meal for my family, I am reminded that my birds love nutritious, tasty foods too. I promise to provide them with the healthiest, most delicious diets available. 3. Every time I consider the safety of my home, I am reminded that I am responsible for the safety of my birds. I promise to see to it that my birds will live in a danger-free environment. 4. Every time I clean my house, I am reminded that I am responsible for the cleanliness of my birds' homes. I promise to keep their habitats as clean and cozy as possible. 5. Every time I enjoy a game or an activity, I am reminded that my birds love to play too. I promise to provide them with safe, entertaining toys and plenty of supervised play time. 6. Every time I enjoy being with my family, I am reminded that I need to take time with my parrots. I promise to spend lots of quality time with my birds each day and to include them in family activities whenever possible. 7. Every time I take a shower, I am reminded of how much my birds love to bathe. I promise to provide my parrots with lots of clean water and a safe, draft-free place for bathing. 8. Every time I try to avoid someone who is irritating or annoying, I remind myself that my birds have no way to remove themselves from the same types of situations. I promise to protect my parrots from people who will tease or frighten them. 9. Every time I feel nippy or cranky, I remind myself that my bird has every right to feel the same way sometimes. I promise to make sure that they are not sick or in pain when they seem out of sorts, and to allow my parrots to have 'bad days' if they feel like it.
