Many of the large movie theatre chains have enlisted the services of MovieTickets.com. This website allows movie tickets for the theatre of choice to be purchased online in advance. Tickets can also be ordered using a web-enabled cell phone.
How to Purchase Online Movie Tickets
A user must register with MovieTickets.com and will be given a password. During the registration process, the website will ask for the names of five local theatres (done on a search engine) to make future movie selections quicker. There is also a feature to search for coming attractions and reserve a ticket.
Once a purchase is made, a user can print the ticket at home (depending on the policy of the theatre chain) and bring it with the credit card used to the theatre. A verification number is given online, but it's not necessary to bring the number to the theatre as the credit card is used as proof of purchase. MovieTickets.com has a maximum purchase of 10 tickets or $120 to protect users from credit card fraud.
Other Features of Buying Tickets Online
Tickets bought for friends can be directly emailed to them. There is also a toll-free customer service line if a user needs assistance. MovieTickets.com also offers a newsletter and special promotions.

Hope our local theatres get on the net one of these days and allow this luxury. But then we don't live where the lines are too long anyway! ...
