United Media's new nationally-syndicated strip Top of the World is first-class. The strip "is a free- wheeling slapstick comic strip that follows the hilarious antics of the cons and captors of Longshot Prison." The characters are well developed and drawn with flair.
As described on the Web site, "[t]he comic strip stars an outrageous lineup of characters led by Mugs, a tenacious little rule-breaker (whose mother thinks he's at "sleepover college"), and Knuckles, his principled sidekick and silly cellmate. While overconfident attorney Cozzer Swindle makes futile attempts to spring them, Mugs and Knuckles confound Longshot Prison's frustrated captain and always-forgiving warden with their eccentric antics and outlandish escapes. Hilarious hijinks abound as this plucky pair end up right back where they started -- in the slammer and (to quoteJames Cagney) on Top of the World!"
As you can tell, this is not your typical subject for a comic strip. It's nice to see something different.
