New Cartoon: Potluck Parish

Mar 20, 2001 - © Stu Rees

United Feature Syndicate, the same folks that bring you Peanuts and Dilbert, have begun an online engagement for a new comic strip entitled "Potluck Parish" by Mark O'Neill.

The web site ( http://www.comics.com/comics/potluck/ind... ) describes the feature as follows: "Potluck suppers take place when everyone brings something different to the dinner table. POTLUCK PARISH is a daily comic strip about the goings-on at a small-town parish where the congregants and the clergy bring their different perspectives to every situation."

From the samples I read, it is a good-natured comic that gets its humor from the interplay between distinctive characters in a place that naturally generates strong interaction: a parish.

There is a substantial and growing archive of material, as well as a description of each major character.
