What is it like to be a syndicated cartoonist? Well, one part of the game is that you operate under a long term contract with a distributor called a "syndicate." If you look at the fine print on each comic strip, you should see credit being given to "King Features Syndicate" or one of the other big five syndicates.
As my law school thesis, I did an in-depth analysis of the syndicate contracts with the help of over twenty cartoonists. I invite you to download the paper. It's a long read, but should be interesting if you harbor any dreams of cartooning for a (very modest) living. Go To Page: 1
