Cartoons are excellent graphics for presentations, pamphlets, publications and just about anything else in print. Until the Internet, it was difficult to buy the rights to publish such cartoons. Now, a site called The Cartoon Bank makes it easy to acquire rights to cartoons from some of the country's best cartoonists. In particular, there are a large number of New Yorker cartoonists. (The database is owned by the New Yorker.) A more detailed description of the site is as follows:

The Cartoon Bank is a computerized data bank of thousands of classic cartoons — from the most renowned cartoonists of our time. Categorized, indexed, cross-referenced, ready to be retrieved at a moment's notice. We're the world's only stock house of cartoons, a treasury of wit and humor on virtually every subject.

Over 20,000 images currently in stock by more than 50 artists!

Through The Cartoon Bank, you can license for your use first time publication rights, reprint rights, on-line rights — you can even buy the original cartoon if that's what's right for you.

Charles Barsotti, Roz Chast, Frank Cotham, Leo Cullum, Liza Donnelly, William Hamilton, Arnie Levin, Lee Lorenz, Michael Maslin, John O'Brien,Victoria Roberts, Danny Shanahan, Peter Steiner, Mick Stevens, Jack Ziegler and, of course, our president, Robert Mankoff are only some of the celebrated artists whose work you will find in The Cartoon Bank. Each is a nationally recognized contributor to publications such as The New Yorker, Time, The New York Times, National Lampoon, Esquire, Harper's and other popular magazines.

Plus, the work of legendary New Yorker cartoonist, James Thurber, can now be found in The Bank!
