Some Great Cartoon Sites

© Laura Kraus

There are a lot of great cartoon sites on the Net. Unfortunately, there's also a lot mediocre stuff. The following list is a blend of the best professional and amateur work.
The Borderline by Gabe Martin
Great offbeat panel with a large archive. Mon-Fri. The cartoonist is trying to generate attention by allowing free use of 400 of his strips by anyone for any purpose until 9/9/99; he's as funny as he is entrepreneurial. There's also Merchandise. E-mail.
Computtoons by John Zakour.
A great site with a new computer cartoon every week day since June of 1994. Has won several Internet awards. Large archive. E-mail.
Daryl Cagle's Professional Cartoonists Links
Lots of well-organized links to syndicated and other professional cartoons. This is clearly the best site for finding just the good stuff. Also take a look at Daryl's fine cartoon TRUE and his cool TRUE Fact Sex Encyclopedia E-Mail.
Dilbert Zone by Scott Adams. United Feature Syndicate.
"Dilbert stars as a socially-challenged engineer and his sarcastic dog, Dogbert, whose true calling is to rule the world, since he believes people are basically too stupid to stop him." Scott Adams started the rush of e-mail and comic strips onto the Internet, and this is still one of the best comic strip sites. About Dilbert. Syndicated daily. Two week archive. Check out the Dilbert Store. E-mail. Today's strip is available from the Forth Worth Star Telegram.
Doonesbury Town Hall by Garry Trudeau. Universal Press Syndicate.
This is an awesome site that really pushes beyond the comic strip itself. Although there are no current strips, the Flashbacks section provides the strips that ran on the same day 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24 years ago. There is also lots of merchandise. Special features include News, a Chat Hall, and a Get Involved section.
Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau. Universal Press Syndicate.
A second official site, this one run by Universal Press Syndicate. The side includes a good profile of Gary and a large archive with strips available on a two week delay (plus some from Gary's Yale days). Merchandise.
Farcus by David Waisglass and Gordon Coulhart. Universal Press Syndicate.
Cool panel related to business issues. Merchandise. See the strips on the
