New Toon: Heart of the City


If you liked Calvin and Hobbes (and everyone except maybe Saddam did), then you're going to like warmth and humor of Heart of the City from Universal Press Syndicate. This is the best new strip of 1998.

Here's a brief summary of the characters (also availabe on the Universal site at www.uexpress.com/ups/comics/hc/hc_about.html ).

HEART

The star of the show! She's a savvy city girl who loves dressing up, playing with her Karlie and Ben dolls and dreaming of the day she's finally allowed to get her ears pierced.

KAT

Heart's best friend and future maid of honor. Kat shares Heart's hopes and dreams...especially someday being Mrs. Leonardo DiCaprio.

HEART'S MOM

A single mother in the big city. Overworked and underappreciated, she does her best to keep a sense of humor while fending off Heart's attempts to find her a man.

MRS. ANGELINI

Heart's nanny while Mom's at work. Direct from South Philadelphia, she brings an ethnic charm and a heck of a calamari fra diavalo.

So check it out BEFORE it becomes the next big toon.
