Here's the scoop from MegaCon with took place February 28 through March 2, 2003 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida
On Friday afternoon, Bill Tucci showed his movie "some trouble of a seRRious nature. It's a live action film about 19 minutes long based on a story that a letter supposedly written by a hillbilly in Arkansas after World War II. A pilot mad an emergency landing in a field, and left the plane. Later, a supposed government man sold the hillbilly the plane for $100, and is not writing a letter to the service manager at Vought/Skorsky Corporation, the aircraft manufacturer, about the poor performance of the plane. It was later discovered that the letter was a hoax. Bill describes this as more of a live action cartoon, so I guess you can know where this is going. Bill also described his difficulty with unions and how everyone is an expert when you are the director. The film was shot in super 16mm in about 8 days. Bill plans to shoot a feature film this summer in High Definition about a person with Alzheimer. The first draft of the screenplay is written and Bill is lining up some top starts to be in his film. . Miramax has taken up the Shi movie and Bill is writing a new draft for the new picture. Tony Scott may direct. ======================== Saturday morning, Phoenix Studios had a panel with Ray Snyder, Drew Johnson, Dan Jolley, Josh Krachwater, and Maria Creall. Phoenix branched off from Jolly Rogers Studios and is located in Macon, Georgia. The studio is working with Devil's Due (another Studio) to put together a Transformers/GI Joe crossover comic. Drew Johnson is re-designing Wonder Woman for a more aggressive, mature reader story arc where the story will take place in Atlanta. Dan Jolley is working on writing Voltron comic book series. He says it will be similar to the TV show story line. It will incorporate the best parts of the TV series, and throw out some of the more inconsistent details. ========================= Future Comics is up and running with their own panel including Ron Lim, Dick Giordano, and Bob Layton. Marc who is a colorist and Mike who helps out in business management were also on the panel. Future comics will produce four comics, and that's it. The first three titles are Freemind, Metallix, and Deathmask with a four title thus far unannounced due out in August.
