Here's some news from DC Comics. Are you a fan of Thundercats? How about Battle of the Planets? If you are a fan of both shows, you may be interested in the crossover comic book. Yes, each have their own comic book. Thundercats is published by Wildstom Productions, a division of DC comics. Battle of the planets is currently a comic by Top Cow productions.
Checking out the Top Cow web site at http://www.topcow.com/ I see that they are currently showing Battle of the Planets issue #5 on sale. The are also re-publishing issues #1 and #2 of this series as "classic" comics. My personal opinion is that any book with only five issues published is hardly "classic", but I have no grudge against Top Cow for republishing comics if people want them. Also check out the Wildstorm web site at http://www.wildstorm.com/ . Lots of Thundercats stuff here, including picture galleries and desktop downloads. THUNDERCATS/BATTLE OF THE PLANETS is a 48-page Special written and drawn by Kaare Andrews, and is scheduled to be in stores on April 23 with a cover price of $4.95 U.S. Battle of the Planets/Thundercats is a 48-page Special written by Munier Sharrieff with art by Alvin Lee and Udon Studios, and is scheduled to be in stores on April 30 with a cover price of $4.99 U.S. In THUNDERCATS/BATTLE OF THE PLANETS, G-Force ' s Mark finds himself magically transported to Thundera and is forced to crash land. Lion-O, seeing Mark 's ship in trouble, heads to the site of the crash. The other Thundercats find the portal and believe Lion-O has gone through to the other side - which leads them to Earth! Villains Zoltar and Mumm-Ra seize the opportunity to collaborate on some interdimensional mischief, and the lives of G-Force and the Thundercats are all in danger - unless they can figure out why their planets have been linked and how they can undo the damage. My personal opinion is that anyone who makes fun of contrived comic book pairing from the 1970's and is a BOTP or Thundercats fan should remain silent of contrived stories for a least a year. The Spider-Man/Human Torch team Ups had nothing on this one in the "contrived" category. Not that this is bad, mind you. If it is entertaining without too much gratuitous violence and you like it, there is nothing wrong with it. ====================== In other Top Cow news, Top Cow has named Jim McLauchlin the new Editor-in-Chief as of 1 January 2003.
