Spidey's Tights Stolen; O'Neil Ill; Superman for Ten Cents

It was reported by that four stolen Spider-Man costumes valued at $50,000 each and one Batman costume valued at $150,000 were stolen from Movie studios. The link between the thieves is security guard, Jeffrey Glenn Gustafson, who worked at both Warner Brothers studios (Parent company to DC Comics) and Sony Pictures Entertainment, where the Spider-Man movie was produced. The Spider-Man costumes were stolen in 2001 and the Batman costume in 1996. His partner Robert Hughes is charged with one count of receiving stolen property.

In my personal opinion, the theft begs the question as to whom you are going to sell them to without getting caught? Gustafson is looking at over seven years in prison and Hughes is looking at five years. Please be careful who you buy your collectibles from!

ONE OF COMICS' best writers and editors, Denny O'Neil suffered a major heart attack last Tuesday. He was dining in a restaurant when it hit, and his heart and respiration actually stopped completely. Fortunately, the owner of the restaurant was a fireman and he had defibrillator paddles handy. It took three tries but he jolted Denny back to life, and now our friend is in the hospital with bypass surgery planned for next week.

I don't have to tell anyone who's read DC comics in the last 33 years that Denny is one of our most valuable creative talents. Some of you may not however know that he's among the most decent, compassionate people in the industry, with a very long list of personal super-heroics to his credit. I hope he gets better in a hurry...and not just because we could be in for some wonderful "back from the dead" stories.

From myself, and I am sure I speak for everyone here at Suite 101; I wish Denny a good wishes and better health. God bless.

First there was DC?s ?Batman: The Ten Cent Adventure?. This was a lead-in story for the ?Bruce Wayne ? Fugitive? story line which continued through multiple Batman and related comic book titles. (Not sure how many total 16 comic or so?) In response, in the last week (or so) Marvel Released a Fantastic Four comic for nine cents. To get in the act, Image also produced a Gen 13 comic for ? your guessed it ? 13 cents.
