San Diego Comic Con! Movie News and RumorsSan Diego's Comic-Con International takes place this weekend. If you are anywhere near southern California, I urge you to take part in this event. Comics has moved past being a print media only, and comic book conventions are truly "multimedia" entertainment events today. It appears that the main San Diego Comic-Con website is down, but check out Brian's guide to the convention with links to cached web pages here http://sdcc.evilgeniuses.org/index.html Way to go Brian! Here are come guests that are scheduled to appear: The following Special Guests are confirmed for Comic-Con 2002: Dick Ayers (Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos, many more comics), Ray Bradbury (SATURDAY ONLY), Tim Bruckner (sculptor), Mike Carey (DC Vertigo writer), Howard Chaykin (DC Vertigo, Mutant X writer), Max Allan Collins (Road to Perdition), Peter David (self-proclaimed "writer of stuff") Spike Decker (of Spike and Mike), Roman Dirge (creator of Lenore, The Monsters in My Tummy, and Something at the Window) Dave Dorman (artist, many painted covers), Will Eisner (creator of The Spirit in 1940's), Al Feldstein (editor of Mad magazine for 35 years!) Devin Grayson (DC woman writer of Batman, Nightwing, more), Los Bros Hernandez Gilbert, Jaime, and Mario Hernandez (alternative comics Love and Rockets), Frank Jacobs (Mad magazine), Jason (Fantagraphics) Chip Kidd (graphic designer), Bob Lubbers (comic book and comic strip artist), Jason Lutes (alternative comics) The Event takes place at the San Diego Convention center. As I live in the southeast United states, I will be unable to attend. If you go, please email me some pictures and your impressions of the convention. I'm Robert and my email is kds@gnc.net. Sorry I was unable to go too.! =============================== Comic Book Resources reports that Sean McKeever will do issue #51 of one of my favorite comic books - "Spider-Girl". I think it will be interesting to see how well his story fits with the first 50 stores written by Tom DeFalco. Check out the complete story here http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/n... Here's a sneak peak at the cove of the book. More pages are on the web at Sean's webpage at http://www.seanmckeever.com/ ========================= Here's all the movie rumor news that's fit to print: The cameras are set to roll in Vancouver Canada for X-Men 2. Snippets I have read from Patrick Stewart indicate that this second movie will focus on Charles Xavior's character (as the first one concentrated on Wolverine). Almost guaranteed to be a hit. Bill Tucci will try again to get a Shi movie made. Comics to Film reports that producer Mimi Polk Gitlin had entered into a new development deal with Billy Tucci for a feature film version of his comic character Shi. The movie is to be written by Tucci and his long-time collaborator Kevin Bernhardt.
