Star Wars Will Crowd Comic Shelves, more
This is a limited series featuring the intimidating pirate captain Nym in his own solo adventure. The story begins eight years after the Battle of Naboo and Nym is down and out on Rodia. In the hopes of earning some quick credits, Nym agrees to hunt down Sol Sixxa, a pirate terrorizing the watery world of Maramere. But first, Nym must lead a rag-tag Rodian tribe to victory in a violent clan war. In April Dark Horse will release a title with a close tie into the movie called "Jango Fett". Jango is the master bounty hunter of his time -- a man feared and respected throughout the galaxy. These comic books will be two of many leading to the release of the Star Wars movie this summer. Speaking of the movie, check out the very cool poster for the movie here. =================== News over at CrossGen Comics is that writer Ron Marz and penciller Bart Sears will be doing the comic book "The Path" set in a world reminiscent of feudal China. It is reported that the main charactr's name will be "Obo-san" and although there will be plenty of action scenes, the book will be more like a movie by Akira Kurosawa. The comic will blend culture, character-based storytelling with action-adventure. "The Path - Prequel" will be released February 27th, 48-pages for $2.95. The first issue will follow a month later. As reported previously here at Suite 101, Chuck Dixon will write a CrossGen comic called "The Way of the Rat", which will be more of a martial arts type of a book. ======================= Rumor for "Ain't It Cool News" at http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/ has it that Marvel's "Spider-Girl may again be cancelled due to poor sales. Editor Tom Brevoort had this to say: "My understanding is that, barring some un-foreseen spike in the sales over the next month or two, SPIDER-GIRL is likely to end with #50. We got a minor bump when the campaign to save the book was in full force, not to mention an outpouring of support-but that all vanished once the original cancellation was overturned. And as much as we've been hoping for a turn-around in the numbers, it hasn't been forthcoming." Christopher Grissom, who lead the charge last year to save the book, has put up a website at http://www.savemayday.com/ . Please check it out and I encourage you to sign the petition.
