Cinescape Online at http://www.cinescape.com reports that New York Times best-selling author Brad Meltzer will replace Kevin Smith as writer on GREEN ARROW as of #16.

Meltzer's novel THE MILLIONAIRES is currently No. 5 on the New York Times bestseller list.

Meltzer joins series penciler Phil Hester and inker Ande Parks.

"I'm sad to be leaving GREEN ARROW," Smith said, "but I'm secure in the knowledge that Brad's going to take Arrowhead for one helluva ride after I'm gone. I know I'll still be buying the book on a monthly basis after my run's finished. I suggest you all do the same. Brad's not going to let you down."

Meltzer is reported to be a lifelong comics reader who names Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman and Warren Ellis as three of his favorite comic book authors.

"Kevin has injected an amazing level of energy and enthusiasm into a character that was - quite literally - dead, and I just feel lucky that they're passing the quiver on to me," Meltzer said. "It's an honor, and I can't think of a more fun character to write, or a better person to follow on a book. Kevin's a master of two genres. The Stanley and His Monster reference was so good I was literally jealous."

My personal comment - Does anyone understand this reference from the story arc that ended with Green Arrow #10? I have an idea but I am not a literary expert.

Part two of the three issue mini-series "The Dark Knight Strikes again" by Frank Miller is out, or will be out shortly. Sorry, I got mixed messages on this one.

Cinescape Online reports that Kurt Busieck, along with Jo Duffy, have come up with another incredible plot line for Marvel's "Defenders" characters. The spin-off book to be called "The Order, The Defenders" the four main characters Hulk, Sub-mariner, Silver Surfer, and Doctor Strange petition to be released from the bond that hold them together whenever cosmic or magical trouble occurs and the earth is in danger. The personification of the earth refuses to release them from their bond. The four decide that if they can't keep emergencies from interfering with their personal live, they will do away with all emergencies - by ruling the earth.

My opinion - another incredible concept by Kurt and Jo. Definitely Kurt's most imaginative since "Dangerous Planet"

My email friend Mike tells me that the award winning graphic novel "Jeremiah" by Belgian author Hermann Huppen published by Platinum Studios will become a TV show. It will kick off on Showtime March 3rd at 8 PM and stars Luke Perry and Malcolm-Jamal Warner. The show takes place in the far future where civilization has collapsed and the main character Jeremiah (Luke Perry) journeys through warring factions with the companionship of Kurdy (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) to find a mysterious section of the globe where his father might be alive.
