Marvel Depicts "Real" Heroes, Comics Help Charties! More!
============================ Cross Gen, in cooperation with Diamond Distributors, is offering comic shops close to the World Trade center a month worth of comics free. Just to help the shops get back on their feet. If you own a comic shop in Manhattan, it would definitely be worth your while to contact CrossGen. While they are offering this to St. Mark's Comics, other will get the offer only if they contact CrossGen and let them know what is going on. CrossGen is also helping victim's families through teaming with eBay on their online 'Auction for America' program to raise over 100 million dollars to the United Way. CrossGen will be providing items for auction with all proceeds going directly to the charity. In other CrossGen news, CrossGen has decided not to attend the recently announced Bill Jemas/Joe Quesada/Marvel Comics retailer summit in New York City scheduled for October 1. With New York City retailers still reeling economically from recent events, it was determined that helping them get their businesses back on track was more important to the industry as a whole than attending a retailer summit. Alessi added that CrossGen would consider attending a summit like this in the future if it was better organized, properly scheduled to allow publishers and retailers time to prepare for it, and included a broader range of participation from the industry. =========================== Comic Shop News http://www.csnsider.com reports that Jim Valentino of Image comics is coordinating getting talent from folks from Oni, Dark Horse, Chaos and DC to put together a tribute comic to be called "September 11". "The recent tragedy made us here at TidalWave Studios take stock of what is truly important." stated Darren G. Davis, President, TidalWave Studios. "Our hearts are truly broken and we want to in some way give something back to our real superheroes.
